The House Appropriations Committee has set aside millions of dollars for local undertakings.

BATON ROUGE -- A wide-ranging list of Southwest Louisiana projects is included in the capital outlay bill that has been approved by the House Appropriations Committee. The measure moves to the House floor.

Major projects are scheduled for McNeese State University, the Port of Lake Charles, the Chennault Industrial Air Park Authority, Westlake, Sam Houston Jones State Park, Burton Coliseum and the Southwest Louisiana War Veterans Home in Jennings.

Projects are ranked by priorities 1 through 5. Those in Priority 1 are funded first, and the projects in other priorities move up over time.

Here are the projects, priorities and amounts:

nlAllen Parish Reservoir, land acquisition, planning, right of way, utilities, equipment and construction, payable from general obligation bonds, Priority 1, $300,000; Priority 2, $750,000; and Priority 5, $1.75 million.

nlAllen Correctional Center, support building and equipment for expansion, planning and construction, payable from general obligation bonds, Priority 2, $250,000; Priority 3, $500,000; Priority 4, $813,000; and Priority 5, $750,000.

nlAllen Correctional Center, wastewater treatment systems, planning and construction, payable from general obligation bonds, Priority 1, $115,000.

nlAllen Correctional Center, fire alarm system replacement, planning and construction, payable from general obligation bonds, Priority 1, $670,000.
